Improved Car Parking Signage Regarding the Proper Use of the Two 15-Minute Loading Zone Spaces
Improved Car Parking Signage Regarding the Proper Use of the Two 15-Minute Loading Zone Spaces
Subject: Improved Car Parking Signage Regarding the Proper Use of the Two 15-Minute Loading Zone Spaces
To Our Marina Guests & Residents,
We are aware of the congestion in the top car park and the inherent frustration of getting a park.
We introduced the two Loading Zone spaces at the G-Pier entry gate a handful of years ago as one measure designed to help relieve some of the pressure on parking spaces. It’s clear that too many vehicle owners have been mis-using the Loading Zones and leaving their vehicles in them for hours and even days on end and taking away the opportunity for others to do a quick drop-off or collection.
The Loading Zone was intended to provide that close-to-the-marina, loading and drop-off space for both permit and non-permit holders. It has been our experience that should the 2 spaces be used appropriately and fairly, for 15 minute drop-offs, then it helps ease the pressure and congestion in the top car park and averts the consequential incidence of vehicles parking in areas they shouldn’t – Eg. parking on the road in NO STANDING areas and making ingress and egress difficult for everyone else.
Despite the two Loading Zone spaces being clearly line marked, we appreciate our signage needed to better define the permitted use – strictly 15 minutes only. We’ve added signage to the eaves of the Gate shelter to give clear notice to vehicle owners that the two Loading Zone spaces are for 15-minute Loading and Unloading only. We have advised the Body Corporate of the change and we will adjust our enforcement of breaches accordingly.
Importantly, and in the interests of trying to improve the availability of parking spaces, the 15 minute parking rule will apply to contractors and charter boat customers and must apply also to parking permit holders as well.
We acknowledge that our boat owners preference parking their vehicles as close to the Marina entry points as possible but if the Loading Zone spaces are misused, it simply transfers parking problems to adjacent areas.
We will keep a close eye on the use of the Loading Zone over the ensuing weeks and welcome your feedback.
Warm regards,
The Breakwater Marina Team
